Do you feel stuck in life? Are you feeling down because you don’t feel accomplished?

What do you really enjoy doing?

Or more importantly, what do you feel like doing now?

Sometimes, we overthink and find ourselves frozen, and although this may be appropriate at times, it can be the root of our pain and suffering.

For a time, I thought making money was the goal so that I can enjoy myself in the future, but in reality, it is a hoax.

If you follow this logic, then you will probably never be happy or satisfied because you are always looking for something in the future, in that, once you have obtained enough money, then you can finally enjoy yourself. However, in that whole time you are searching for more and more, you are not truly enjoying yourself, which is a waste.

I think it is more important to enjoy yourself right now. Put money aside for a moment and ask yourself, what do I feel like doing right now? What is it that I really have fun doing?

Try this exercise if you can. Play an instrument, whether it be a piano or guitar or flute, and just play it without any fear of making mistakes.

For example, if you are playing the guitar, pretend you are a famous rockstar guitarist and move your fingers to a rhythm. It’s ok if it doesn’t sound good. Once you find a small rhythm, you’ll see that you are really getting a kick out of it. You can also do this with drawing or painting too. If you see musicians play in concert, you can see from their expressions that they are really having fun.

Now what if you applied this to your daily life?

What can you do for work that allows you to play for money? Don’t be afraid that you won’t make money from it.

Whether it be music or writing or whatever, if you do it passionately because you truly enjoy it, then doing it everyday will eventually make you a master at it. And when you are really good at something, whatever it is, people will pay you for it.

--Alan Watts said this in one of his lectures. Here is an excellent YouTube video by Spiritual Mind illustrating an Alan Watts lecture perfectly.

So, just do whatever you really have fun doing or are interested in and the rest will follow.

In this way, even if it doesn’t turn out the way you want in the end, you were doing what you enjoyed in life rather than wasting it away doing what you hated or disliked.
